On one of our last days in the UK this last summer, we took a trip up from London to Invereray in Scotland for the Hydro Connect Festival. The music was great, and we stood in the rain and mud for 12 hours for my favourite band, an Icelandic group of 8 individuals going by the name Sigur Rós. The shot here is of Jón Þór Birgisson, the lead singer for the group, doing his thing (yes, playing an electric guitar with a cello bow). The concert really blew me away, and when Sigur Rós came up on stage things truly got dramatic. I hope i captured some of the essence of the gig with this photo, and i'll be sure to post a couple more shots i found interesting from other bands as well in the future.
This shot is amazing. I love how you've captured how truly and seriously dedicated they are to their art; how immersed they are in performance & expression. I have not yet had the honor and experience of seeing them live but I am somewhat familiar with their music and have seen the documentary DVD; the entire show must have been mind-blowingly emotive I really like the sound of the bowed electric, it lends an ethereal quality to an already genius and surreal sound.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
